![]() Shinohara was one of the first members of CIP-3 (the "International Cooperation for Integration of Pre-press, Press and Post-press"), a group formed to create a standard digital format for communicating data related to prepress, press and postpress printing operations. One product of this commitment, the Shinohara CIP-3 Station, provides the most convenient means of rapidly setting ink-key apertures in print runs based on PPF(Print Production Format) fi1es. Acting as a "translator" between a workstation and the printing press, the CIP-3 Station converts the PPF data into the proper digital format and passes it on to the Shinohara printing press. In response, the press automatically calibrates ink-key apertures.
In addition to simplifying initial setup, this method makes it possible to save data from the CIP-3 Station to an operation console. As a result, setting ink-key apertures in repeat jobs is a snap. In ways like this,Shinohara and the CIP-3 will continue to transform the world of printed media. With the SRIM or theShinohara CIP3 station the SPIS can dramatically reduce the press make ready time and operator's task. Only thing operator has to do is to press the start button, then the ideal ink film is automatically established on all ink rollers by the SPIS and also ideal ink key apertures are automatically setup by the SRIM or the Shinohara CIP3 station. To prevent unnecessary color shifting, a color control bar on the target proof is scanned before) the start of print job,and used as a Standard against which to compare color density throughout the run.Comparisons are made at the SCCS using a sensitive peripheral device known as an Auto Tracking Spectrophotometer(ATS)(Not included in SCCS).Compensation data Calculated based on the differences in color density is processed at the PC and passed to the operation console. Compatible Shinohara printing presses respond to this compensation data automatically, adjusting ink-key apertures to maintain proper color densities.
